Hey friends!
Sorry if you are receiving this for the second time. It seems Substack glitched when I sent it and only 4 people received it. 😜
We’re back with another deep dive into Scripture… this time we’re cracking open the Gospel of Matthew (or, as his mom called him, Mattityahu).
What’s This About?
This isn’t your ordinary Bible study where you skim the genealogy and yawn. We’re unpacking Matthew’s Gospel through a Messianic Jewish lens, which means:
Real Hebrew Names & Cultural Context. You’ll meet Yeshua, Yosef and Miriam on their own terms, learn why those genealogies aren’t just filler, and see how Matthew ties every chapter back to the Torah and the prophets.
Lots of Old‑Testament Connections. We’ll explore how Yeshua’s 40‑day wilderness test echoes Israel’s 40 years and why that matters.
Jewish Wisdom & Everyday Application. From the Sermon on the Mount to parables about seeds and sheep, we’ll see how Yeshua reinterprets Torah for all of us.
How It Flows
Over six weeks, here’s a taste of what we’ll explore:
Week 1: The King Arrives. Meet the family tree and discover that even the messiest ancestors have starring roles. John (Yochanan) shows up in camel hair, Yeshua gets baptised, and everything points back to Israel’s story.
Week 2: Kingdom Ethics. We climb the Mount with Yeshua to hear about blessings for the overlooked, salt and light, and loving even your enemies. Spoiler: Torah isn’t cancelled, it’s fulfilled.
Week 3: Authority & Discipleship. Yeshua heals lepers, calms storms and calls unlikely followers. He invites us to heal, forgive and dine with “sinners” just like He did.
Week 4: Mysteries of the Kingdom. Parables galore! Seeds, yeast, nets and treasures reveal how the Kingdom sneaks up on you and transforms everything.
Week 5: Confession & Community. Feeding 5,000, walking on water, shining on a mountaintop, and explaining forgiveness… this week has all the feels and real talk about leadership.
Week 6: Passion & Resurrection. We journey through the Passion narrative, the empty tomb and the Great Commission. Yeshua’s resurrection isn’t the end, it’s the launch.
