What is Exegesis? (And No, It’s Not a Dinosaur)

Exegesis is a big word for a simple idea: drawing out the real meaning of the Bible. It means letting the text speak for itself finding out what it meant back then before we decide what it means for us today.

The opposite is eisegesis… that’s when you read your own opinions, drama, or TikTok theology INTO the passage. We don’t do that here!


Why Does Exegesis Matter?

  • It keeps you from twisting scripture to fit your feelings or situation (been there, regretted that).

  • It helps you live and teach God’s Word with confidence and integrity.

  • It honors the Author: both God and the person who first wrote it down.
