And again - thank you! Yet another priceless reveal of a terribly insufficient translation!

Correctly stated; "Obedience is costly" and yet a future reward is the expectation for those who persevere. I never fully understood the full meaning of "Shama" until this study. Thank you.

I recorded an experience that occurred in 2021. Three years would pass until I felt led to combine a brief rendition with verses from Deuteronomy 10. I titled it: "What is G-d Seeking of You?" Once again it is a calling for self-introspection by Yeshua's disciples as they hopefully continue to "search, knock, and seek". It remains unknow as to what caused me to write this or for whom it is specifically meant.

Deuteronomy 10:12-13

“And now, Israel, what does the Lord your God ask of you but to fear the Lord your God, to walk in obedience to him, to love him, to serve the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul, and to observe the Lord’s commands and decrees…”(NIV 2011)

The Story Box (condensed)

“The time was nearing Rosh Hashana (2021). An online article regarding the Akedah was elucidated in the writing. An attached connection chain was noted. While hovering over the data link, a story box opened. The caption recounted the faith of Abraham. As I read the commentary, my eyes filled with moisture. While concentrating on the story of Abraham’s complete trust in G-d, tears poured down my cheeks.”

“The passion continued for many minutes until such time that it became necessary to leave the room to bring a cessation of the sentiment. This was the first time that weeping appeared unaccompanied by emotion on my part. The feelings belonged to someone else. Either I had tapped into someone's sentiments or they had tapped into my pathos. Whose feelings were these that aroused a magnitude of sensibility? The veneration produced by the empathic consciousness was of near incapacitating impact.”

Genesis 12:1-9 describes Abram’s calling and name change. Was he summoned because of his intellect, an innate understanding of monotheism or because of his humble actions? Abraham feared the Lord. He walked in obedience and in service to Adonai as seen by his willingness to sacrifice his son Isaac.

What was G-d seeking from Abraham? The answer would be revealed through a story box. Abraham showed that his passionate heart was more than the center of his being, mind or thoughts alone. It is said that the “lev-lev” is the source of one’s actions and understanding of G-d and encompasses one’s mind, will, emotions, desires and intentions.

The tears that poured down my cheeks were caused by an unexpected act of love that foreshadowed Adonai’s own sacrifice for our redemption. Could it be that the cascade of emotions sent through the “story box” was for the benefit of all readers?

Yeshua said, “Ask [keep asking] and it will be given to you; [keep searching] seek and you will find; [keep knocking] knock and the delet (door) will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives; the one who seeks finds; and the one who knocks, the door will be opened.
