There’s a woman in Mark 5 who has been bleeding for twelve years. Broke, worn out, and cut off from the temple and from being touched by anyone at all. And when she finally makes her move, she does something that looks reckless on paper. She shoves through a crowd and grabs a fistful of a rabbi’s clothes.
Most of us were handed a version of this story where she just grabbed whatever her hand landed on. Poor desperate thing, lucky guess. I’m not so sure about that. I think she knew exactly what she was reaching for, and once you see it, you’re going to have a hard time unseeing it.
