Word Girl Rewind - Where Melchizedek Stood, Jesus Still Stands
Hey friend,
Have you ever found yourself craving something steady when everything around you feels like it’s shifting? Some days it’s not the chaos that wears us down, it’s the uncertainty. The questions. The waiting. The wondering if anything is truly unshakable.
In Genesis 14, we meet someone ancient and mysterious…Melchizedek. A priest and a king who shows up without warning, blesses Abraham with bread and wine, receives a tithe, and then disappears just as quickly. No genealogy. No origin story. Just presence and purpose.
In my original post, I shared this:
“Melchizedek shows up like a shadow and a foreshadow. He blesses Abraham, receives tithes, and then disappears into the pages of Genesis without a backstory. No beginning or end. Just presence and purpose.”
And isn’t that how God often works? Quietly, without fanfare. No press release. Just stepping in, blessing us in the middle of our wilderness, and reminding us that we’re not alone.
Melchizedek points to Jesus; not just as Savior, but as our eternal High Priest. The book of Hebrews later draws the connection, showing us how Jesus holds a priesthood not based on lineage, but on divine appointment. Permanent. Unchanging. Holy.
That’s the kind of steady our souls crave. A priesthood that doesn’t pass away. A presence that doesn’t walk out. A promise that doesn’t expire.
When life is shifting and uncertain, you don’t need more explanations. You need a Jesus who never changes.
His presence isn’t a cameo. It’s constant. And you are never without a High Priest who sees you, knows you, and stands in the gap.

Because God isn’t asking for perfection. He’s after presence. And every confession is a doorway back to Him.

If you haven’t already studied the meaning of the name, Melchizedek, I think you will find it very interesting. You are correct in noticing a similitude between Melchizedek and Jesus Christ.
