Word Girl Wednesday - Grace Over Guilt
Becoming Her, One Verse at a Time
Scripture:
“She is clothed with strength and dignity; she can laugh at the days to come.”
— Proverbs 31:25 (NIV)
Devotional Thought:
The Proverbs 31 woman can feel like a Pinterest-perfect unicorn: up early, running businesses, planting vineyards, and crushing life in a handmade linen dress. But here’s the truth; she’s not a checklist; she’s a character goal, and God's grace is your fuel, not guilt.
This verse reminds us that strength and dignity aren’t earned by doing all the things…they’re woven into us by a God who sees our hearts, not our to-do lists. You don’t have to be perfect to be Proverbs 31 purposeful. Laugh at the days to come, not because you have everything figured out, but because you trust the One who holds them.
We often read this passage and immediately feel like we’re falling short. But what if we stopped striving for perfection and started leaning into presence; God’s presence? The woman in Proverbs 31 isn’t anxious or overwhelmed because her identity isn’t wrapped up in what she accomplishes. It’s anchored in who God is. And that’s good news for every woman who's ever felt behind, too busy, or not enough.
This journey of becoming isn’t about snapping your fingers and arriving. It’s about daily surrender, steady growth, and seeing grace as your guide. God isn't asking you to hustle harder, He’s inviting you to walk humbly with Him, clothed in the beauty of who He’s already made you to be.
🙏🏻 Prayer:
Lord, thank You for clothing me in Your strength and dignity, even on the days when I feel like a hot mess. Help me walk in grace, not comparison, and find joy in becoming the woman You’ve called me to be. Amen.
🪞Reflection Question:
In what area of your life do you most need to replace guilt with grace, and how can you invite God’s strength and dignity into that space today?
