This explains a lot to me that I never could have connected and put into words. Thank you so much for this. There is so much false teaching on kingdom things and though I know it to be false I never could figure out how to explain the truth to someone. God bless you Diane. I love you more every single day sister. 😍🕊️
I wrote "Let Your reign have authority here." on my calendar today. I'm struggling with the loss of my son. Surely, I always will to some degree. But I need His authority to reign supreme over my thoughts and emotions every day. Not my self-pity, which is a beast to overcome.
Question 3 is where my heart settled. “Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is near.” I ended up going to your Hebrew Bible Study tool to look up the Hebrew word 'shuv' -- return. Interesting that Mal 3:7 says "Return to me, and I will return to you, says the Lord of hosts. " Yet, Yeshua proclaims that He has made the first move in coming near before the 'shuv'.
Your word study tool also points out the first use of shuv in Scripture is Gen 3:19 returning to the dust from which we came. Eccles 12:7 says, "...dust returns to the earth as it was, and the spirit returns to God who gave it." Which also made me think of my son. Everything is viewed through this lens right now!
But back to shuv - return - and this self-pity that seems to be the predominant focus of my heart right now. My prayer today is that He will help me to be aware of when my thoughts have shifted and settled too long on my loss and ache; so that I can return my focus on to Him and His resurrection power and promise. It's okay to hurt. It's okay to grieve. But not as one without hope. Return my focus onto the perfect peace and fullness of joy my son is experiencing in His presence. As Paul tells us in Philippians to be with Christ is far better!
Saturday is Decoration Day at the cemetery where my son is buried and 9 weeks since his death. Please remember me and our family in your prayers. Holy Spirit, Help us live our lives as Christ demonstrated and as our Father wills. Amen.
I cackled long and loud over the Par Team quip! Really, such a good article packed small and tight!
