Diane, I have tot ell you that I just had a long talk with a dear friend who suffers from severe anxiety and depression. She said that when she is in the darkest possible place, a place where she FEELS no hope (as an emotion), it is her knowledge of scripture like the words in Jeremiah that appear to her like a visible "cord" that keeps her attached to Jesus. She stressed that she feels no emotional hope but that the word of God holds on to her like a cord of light because she believes in the promise and has taken it in to a place inside her that is beyond emotion. What fun! I've always been impressed with Rahab. In fact, my all-time favorite dog was a gorgeous long-haired basset named RahabRuth. The Lord was impressed enough to carry her story and put her in the lineage of David, and Yeshua. That's quite a commendation.

Just this past Saturday, in the episode we were watching the soldiers sang ‘Ha Tikveh’ and I wondered what it meant in English! That verse uses the word חוּט or chut instead of tikvah. In fact, In Joshua tikvah is used right before chut. It’s basically tikvah is the line/cord and chut is describing what it is made from (a thread-like cord).
That's interesting. If I got the picture right, it's like a "tow rope" and we are skiing with the rope constantly in "tension" as we follow Jesus. If we try to go to fast, the rope goes slack .... head over heels.
If we don't hold on, we sink.
I thought the color red in the Jericho story suggested the blood line of Jesus.
I heard a preacher say that was irrelevant. He denied the supernatural in every day life. Like finding a parking spot.
