Wow. It's the word studies that really make this come alive for me. I started considering the implications of the "fire that was not commanded" quite some time ago, but the nuance about Aaron's silence/stillness completely reframes this entire scene for me.

It transforms Aaron's response from simple speechlessness to holding himself in complete obedience and submission to God's will.

Powerful stuff.

But...

Seriously, Diane. Is there anything you're not amazing at?

I looked you up on Amazon music and each song blows me away more than the last one!

The Nadab and Abihu deaths have many ramifications. The strange fire (not commanded) could be understood as bringing "sin" near the threshold of G-d. Sin requires a sacrifice. Could it be that their consumption (partial or whole) represented a burnt sacrifice? Then there is Uzzah also demonstrates the manner in which believers in messiah are able to come near to Elohim. After Adoni commanded "Messianic Judaic" worship, I began pursuing the Father. It was not by manner of prayer but a continual or perhaps better described as 'incessant' request for the Father to reveal his full nature to me. All the while I remained prostrate before the throne 'metaphorically'. More than a year passed before receiving a response.

Looking back my early life, it was He who spent 2 decades in pursuit of me. Having heard several online forums regarding collective prayer through mediative means, the speaker turned his faith into a mystical seance announcing that the Ruach could be felt by that method "To gain G-d's strength and "become greater", eventually becoming "One with Him." As such, whenever this memory of the forum resurfaces, it reminds of the "strange fire" that brought the death of Aaron's sons. Your Parashat Shemini dialogue remains thought provoking.
