Torah Portion Shabbat Shavuot II: Deuteronomy's open hand, Habakkuk's yet-praise, and what the Hebrew letter Samech tells us about the God who surrounds.
So when I first created a basic beginner’s Hebrew course I studied the letters in detail. So it didn’t come to me as I was writing. I learned the symbolism of them quite some time ago and from there I look for the connection. There is so much detail in these letters…even right down to what is called the “crown” of the letters. Each letter in the Torah scroll is hand-lettered by a scribe, and some letters have tiny decorative crowns (tagin in Hebrew), little flourishes of three strokes, drawn on top of them.
And sure, you can DM me. I am getting ready for Shabbat so I may not respond until Sunday.
